The Mujiaping and Laowengchang gas storage cluster of the PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Field was put into full operation on Wednesday in Changning County of Yibin City, southwest China's Sichuan Province. This marks a major breakthrough in China's key and core technology of the complex fractured-vuggy carbonate reservoir.
The gas storage cluster is the first of its kind in Sichuan Province, and also the first complex fractured-vuggy carbonate reservoir in China.
It has a designed storage capacity of 5.97 billion cubic meters with a working gas capacity of 3.15 billion cubic meters. The maximum daily gas extraction capacity is expected to exceed 50 million cubic meters after the full completion of the project, which will be the fourth largest in China.
