The China-Kazakhstan Horgos International Border Cooperation Center draws Chinese and Kazakh business people as well as tourists from all over the world. An increasing number of investors are attracted by cross-border tourism. Horgos is an important gateway for China's westwards opening up and a "golden port" connecting Asia and Europe.
The Center, which straddles the China-Kazakhstan border, is a fully enclosed area of 5.6 square kilometers, where citizens of the two countries and third-country citizens can enter and exit with valid documents without visas.
Each person is allowed to carry 8,000 yuan (1098 U.S. dollars) worth of duty-free goods per day.
The number of enterprises that have settled in the Horgos Comprehensive Bonded Zone has increased from 178 at the end of 2022 to 417.
A steady stream of vehicles pass through the Horgos Highway Port on a daily basis. On August 15 this year, the highway port officially began to pilot 24/7 operation mode.
