A 196-meter long and 35-meter wide bridge on the Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway completed a swivel Thursday morning in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province.
The bridge rotated clockwise 85 degrees. Its span and weight are the world's largest.
After the successful rotation, the closure section of the rotating beam will not be located above the railway, which minimizes the interference of the closure construction on the railway operation and effectively reduces safety risks.
The Fuzhou-Xiamen railway is one of the busiest rail lines in China, with a train passing by every five minutes on average. To avoid affecting the regular railway operation, the construction company built the bridge first and then completed a swivel.
