Braving chilling water and cold air, a collective of 78 teams with more than 1,200 swimmers crossed the Yangtze River in a traditional winter activity in Yichang, central China's Hubei Province on Sunday.
This year's competition was divided into three groups, including a 2,800-meter individual race and a 1,600-meter team race.
Yichang City is strategically located at the confluence of the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the location of the Three Gorges Dam Project and Gezhouba Water Conservancy Project.
