With the first block of ice collected from the frozen Songhua River, the fourth Harbin Ice Harvest Festival kicked off on Thursday in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
After some wonderful folkloric performances, the workers hauled the first block of ice out of the frozen Songhua River.
Ice harvesting will continue here for half a month, with a daily ice collection volume of over 6,000 cubic meters. The ice cubes collected from the frozen Songhua River will be used to decorate the city's Harbin Ice and Snow World, creating an ultimate sensory experience for domestic and foreign tourists.
