China's battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Hong Kong Science Park on Thursday.
Paul Chan Mo-po, financial secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, extended welcome to CATL's decision to set up its international headquarters and research and development (R%26amp;D) center in Hong Kong.
The CATL's decision is very important for promoting the development of Hong Kong's innovation and technology industry, he said.
Founded in 2011, CATL has set up 13 battery manufacturing bases around the globe. Its power battery shipments and energy storage battery shipments have ranked first in the world for six and two consecutive years, respectively.
