China's leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD unveiled three electric vehicle models on Thursday in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, announcing its official entry into the Indonesian market.
These three pure electric vehicles are BYD Seal, BYD Atto3, and BYD Dolphin, all using the blade battery technology developed by BYD.
It aims to meet the different needs of Indonesian consumers, marking the start of a new journey for BYD passenger cars in Indonesia.
Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia, with a population of about 280 million.
Entering the Indonesian market is BYD's further expansion in Southeast Asia. Previously, BYD launched pure electric buses with Indonesian partners and dabbled in the local taxi market.
In recent years, Indonesia, the "country of a thousand islands", attracted many Chinese auto companies. SAIC-GM-Wuling and Chery Automobile have set up production bases there.
The arrival of Chinese companies has also helped the development of electric vehicles in Indonesia. At present, Indonesia vigorously develops the automobile manufacturing industry and regards the electric vehicle industry as a national priority development industry.
