The Seoul Metropolitan Government has selected a batch of foreign poems to be posted on subway screen doors to welcome tourists from all over the world. The poems include the ones by famous Chinese litterateurs such as Li Bai, Du Mu and Xin Qiji.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government has counted the 13 countries with the highest number of tourists visiting South Korea in the past year and selected 24 poems in these 13 languages, which include English, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai. Those well-known poems were collected from different countries through experts and embassies in South Korea.
The city government selected 13 subway stations taking into account the locations of embassies and locations related to major countries, etc. Three Chinese poems have been selected from 24 poems to be featured on the subway.
"Reading Chinese poems may help us understand more about China, I also felt that we all live in the same world, see things from similar perspectives, appreciate beauty, and express our emotions in a similar way," said a Seoul resident.
