A magnitude-7.1 earthquake jolted Wushi County in Aksu Prefecture in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region at 2:09 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
Three people have been killed and five others injured after the earthquake, authorities said.
Rescue and relief operations are underway.
