A passenger plane carrying 158 passengers departed from the Nanjing Lukou International Airport in east China's Jiangsu Province on Tuesday, and landed at Malaysia's Tawau Airport, about 60 km away from Semporna.
It marks China's first direct international flight route to Semporna. The new flight route is expected to promote people-to-people exchanges between China and Malaysia.
Semporna, located on the south-eastern coast of Sabah in Malaysia, is known for its underwater scenery.
