China's 2024 Spring Festival travel rush kicked off on Friday, 15 days ahead of the Spring Festival, with record-breaking trips expected.
Passenger trips are likely to hit 9 billion during the travel rush in China, according to the country's transport ministry.
China's railways are expected to handle 480 million passenger trips during this travel season, with an average of 12 million trips daily, an increase of 37.9 percent compared with the previous year, the country's railway operator said on Friday.
Beijing Daxing International Airport welcomed its first day of peak travel as the Spring Festival travel rush started on Friday. The airport will welcome 5.5 million passenger trips for the travel rush. Chinese airlines have added more overseas routes to cope with surging outbound travel.
Chinese authorities have made great efforts to meet travel demands, improve service quality for passengers, and ensure better work and living environments for frontline workers.
