A cross-Strait event for the upcoming Lantern Festival was kicked off in Fuzhou, east China's Fujian Province on Tuesday night.
The event was jointly organized by Fuzhou's Mawei District and Matsu, where people from both sides of the Taiwan Strait will present lanterns for each other, and experience Min Opera and other traditional Chinese culture together during the Lantern Festival every year. This year's event focuses on traditional festival culture, historical culture, shipbuilding culture and folk culture, and incorporates cross-Straits specialties, cultural and creative designs, and study activities. The event will last until February 25.
At the event, a kind of physical service card was released, which allows Matsu residents to enjoy housing, medical care, education, transportation and other benefits within Fuzhou.
