Huo Guangjian, a folk artist of egg carving from Hengshui, north China's Hebei Province, has created a series of artworks featuring elements of the Chinese dragon.
The series contains 10 sets of egg carvings. Among them, the "Year of the Loong (Dragon) 2024" adopted the intaglio carving technique, using four eggshells to combine the image of the traditional Chinese dragon with the number 2024.
Egg carving is a kind of folk art that integrates painting and carving. The first step is to print on the eggshell with a pencil, and then carve in details. The raw materials for egg carving are mostly chicken eggs, ostrich eggs and so on.
