Takeout food lovers visiting Pengzhou City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, were surprised to enjoy a drone delivery service during this year's Spring Festival holiday.
Mr. Ou, camping in the town of Tongji in Pengzhou, opened an app and ordered some hotpot ingredients. Within approximately 10 minutes, a drone from the nearby town delivered the ingredients to his campsite.
With a full load of 5 kilograms, each drone can cover a distance of 10 kilometers. Fifteen routes have been operated in Pengzhou, with 100 daily flights during peak periods. The delivery fee for each order is 20 yuan ($2.78), which is quite reasonable.
The towns of Tongji, Guihua, and Bailu in Pengzhou are popular tourist destinations, but they are located in mountainous areas, making it inconvenient for tourists to buy food and ingredients. In the future, Pengzhou's Tongji Township will build more drone application scenarios, promoting drone delivery services to more merchants and consumers.
