On Tuesday, racehorses galloped across a course in Dali, southwest China's Yunnan Province, sprinting for the finish line.
This year, 126 racehorses from 23 equestrian teams from across China gathered in Dali to compete in a racing event that formed part of the Third Month Fair, or Sanyuejie, that usually occurs in April. The festival features traditional sports such as horse racing and crossbow archery, as well as concerts and market stalls selling local products.
It is understood that the competition will determine the best racehorse, which receives a bonus of 100,000 yuan (about 13,804 U.S. dollars).
