Opening up is a defining feature of Chinese modernization, as stated at the 3rd Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

As a foreign expert now living in Shanghai, Joseph Gregory Mahoney, professor of politics and international relations at East China Normal University said that the cohesive and open development in the Yangtze River Delta region, as well as China's entry facilitation measures and urbanization progress are major topics to him.

Responding to these questions, Sang Baichuan, dean of Institute of International Economics at University of International Business and Economics, offered his interpretation in the latest edition of China Answers

Professor Sang said that China will further simplify entry procedures for foreigners and increase operations of international flights to attract foreigners. He emphasized the importance of inclusive and diversified consumption channels in boosting economic growth. He added that the progress of China's urbanization will benefit rural population and the experience from the open development in the Yangtze River Delta region will advance the country's high-quality development.
