(ECNS) -- September 9, 2024, marks the 48th anniversary of the passing of Chairman Mao Zedong. In a recent exclusive interview with China News Network, Joseph Oliver Mendo'o, executive director of the International Exchange Dept. of China-Africa Business Council and head of the African Youth Delegation in China, expressed that Africa's positive feelings toward China date back to Chairman Mao's era. The older generation of Africans still remembers Chairman Mao and his many contributions to the Chinese people.

Mendo'o said China and Africa as "friends you share the path with". Despite approaching challenges differently, the two sides share the same goals and therefore stand together through adversity and prosperity. He highlighted the African spirit of "Ubuntu"—benevolence and sharing—which aligns closely with China's vision for building a "community with a shared future for mankind".

Mendo'o also encouraged African youth to visit China, and likewise, he urged Chinese youth to visit Africa to deepen mutual understanding and jointly write a new chapter in China-Africa friendship and cooperation. (Wang Gaofei, Zhao Li)
