China has a big chance in AI development thanks to its large population, the same language, and a lot of computer infrastructure, said French professor Jean-Gabriel Ganascia, a computer scientist and philosopher at Sorbonne University, in an exclusive interview with China News Network at the Tsinghua Higher Education Forum in Beijing.
Speaking of challenges in China's AI sector, Ganascia pointed out that AI could harm people's independent thinking if people were over-dependent on AI to write.
He called for better governance to "take care of the place of humans in the system" in case AI machines were used to collect and analyze information for bad purposes. (Gong Weiwei)
