In celebration of the National Day, China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) held on Tuesday a series of events including a flag-raising ceremony, a reception, and a fireworks display that wrapped up the day's festivities.
Residents and tourists thronged both sides of the Victoria Harbor for show, which was estimated to attract around 330,000 spectators, with some arriving before noon to find the perfect spot.
At 9:05 p.m., the show began with red stars and purple five-petal flowers lighting up the sky, symbolizing the shared bright future for the motherland and the HKSAR.
Fireworks shaped like green bamboo leaves followed to echo the arrival of a pair of giant pandas last week gifted by the central government and the twin cubs born in Hong Kong in August.
