About 300, 000 people involved, an astonishing six out of ten global wigs made at the city and one in every 15 residents engaged in the field, these are all representative name cards of Xuchang of Central China’s Henan Province. Dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) when the industry initially started, Xuchang had developed into a domestic hub for wig processing over the years.
By refining itself, the local industry has evolved from the basic processing to advanced manufacturing. Crossing mountains and seas, countless wigs from Xuchang are exporting to Europe, the United States, Africa and beyond, becoming trending fashion statements for consumers worldwide. It is also a representative manifestation of China’s county economy that shines at the global stage.
