"People of the Flaming Mountain" is a mosaic of the specialties of Turpan: the Flaming Mountains, the grape valley and the yellow noodles barbecue.
We explore them through the very people who are deeply involved in keeping them alive: Yushan Abulizi, the manager of the first yellow noodle restaurant that’s been using the special recipe for three generations; Rukeya Maihemuti, who works in the Flaming Mountain in the day and runs her own shop at night, Reziwanguli and Sa’erhan Maihemuti, a family of grape farmers farming without chemicals and Mukaidaisi Abulaiti, a tour guide at Flaming Mountain well-verse in its history. The film stands to prove that without these people and their traditions, Turpan would disappear into the desert forever.
