The Chinese military sent a drone to survey the epicenter after the 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on Tuesday.
The Western Theater Command has dispatched staff to the affected area to coordinate rescue efforts.
The earthquake has caused 126 deaths and injured another 188. Telecommunications, roads and power have been restored in the quake-hit region.
The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) on Tuesday night allocated a second batch of relief supplies to the quake-affected areas, which comprised 4,300 items such as cotton tents, quilts and folding beds.
More than 50 rescue workers were also sent to the areas by the RCSC, bringing along emergency sanitary toilets, catering vehicles and camper vehicles, among other emergency response supplies.
Three rescue teams consisting of 24 members from Sichuan Red Cross Society were dispatched to the quake-hit area in Shigatse early Wednesday morning.
Lorries loaded with supplies worth more than 100,000 yuan set off from Yinchuan, northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, early Wednesday morning to aid the disaster area in Shigatse.
China Eastern Airlines' flight MU2335 departed from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport on Wednesday, with a stop in Xi'an before arriving at Lhasa, carrying a medical team of 13 members, and 7.45 tons of relief supplies including cotton clothes and quilts, to the quake-stricken areas in Shigatse, in full support of the quake relief work.
