Lingering drought causes water shortage in Yunnan (1/3)

2012-02-09 16:20    Ecns.cn     Web Editor:Wang Haining
It takes one day and one night to fill a pail of water at the only source of water in Zhangjiacun Village, Shuangbai County, southwest China's Yunnan Province. The villagers are forced to travel 15 kilometers in mountains to get drinking water from a river. The Zhangjiacun Village is a miniature of the entire dry land in Yunnan Province. As a result of continuous droughts since 2009, the existing water storage of reservoirs is about 62 percent as planned. [CNS Photo/Liu Ranyang]
