Herder Chu Ying who recevied 3,700 yuan (580.9 US dollars) of subsidies for grassland ecology protection last year herds sheep in Jijitan Village of Songshan Township in Tianzhu Tibet Autonomous County, northwest of China's Gansu Province, Aug. 15, 2012. The county has implemented a measure to subsidize local herdsmen to protect grassland ecology since 2011. Under the subsidy and incentives system, herdsmen here have seen growth of their revenues despite fewer number of livestock they own. (Xinhua/Wang Yanming)
