Chinese Special Envoy Sun Guoxiang said in Yangon on Saturday that China is confident in the future of its relations with Myanmar.

Sun, special envoy for Asian Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, is leading a team to observe the country's general election due to take place Sunday.

In an interview with Xinhua, Sun said Myanmar and China are friendly neighbors, and as Myanmar's good neighbor, good partner and good friend, China hopes to see a more stable and more developed Myanmar.

Sun said that viewing from the 65-year history of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Myanmar, no matter how international situation changes, China-Myanmar Paukphaw (fraternal) friendship has never changed.

He noted that the two countries' relations will continue to move ahead in the common interests of the two countries after Myanmar's general election.

Sun arrived in Myanmar on Tuesday at the invitation of Myanmar government.
