The year of 2013 is a peak year for archaeology, and some major archaeological finds are selected as below.

A number of stone armors and helmets have been found in a tomb inside the Mausoleum of Emperor Qinshihuang in Xi'an, the capital city of West China's Shaanxi province, and archaeologists speculated it might be an armory.

Experts estimated thousands of stone armors were still under the earth, and stone pieces could exceed 5 million.

  • About Qin Mausoleum
  • It was constructed over 38 years, from 246 to 208 BC, and is situated underneath a 76-meter tall tomb mound. The layout of the mausoleum is modeled on the Qin capital Xianyang, divided into inner and outer cities.

The tomb of Shangguan Wan'er (664–710), an influential female politician and poet during the regime of Empress Wu Zetian (690-705), was found in Xianyang city, Shaanxi province.

Being dubbed one of "the four most talented women" in ancient China, Shangguan was praised as a "female prime minister" during the regime of Empress Wu Zetian.

The tomb of Shangguan Wan'er, a famous female politician in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), in Xianyang, Shaanxi province believed to be ravaged on Sept 4. No coffin was found in a one-month excavation, and a large portion of the patio and the corridor to the tomb were damaged, suspected to be destructions from officials in history.
