Wuhan-exclusive dragon dance performed at Taiwan after seven years

(ECNS) -- The Wuhan Gaolong performance troupe, comprising 34 members, concluded their performances in Taiwan and returned to Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province, on Thursday. This marks the fourth time Wuhan Gaolong has visited Taiwan after seven years.

Invited by in Miaoli County, southeast China's Taiwan, the troupe participated in the annual Miaoli Bombing Dragon Carnival in Miaoli County from last Friday to this Thursday.

During this visit to Taiwan, the Wuhan Gaolong performance troupe performed at temples of Miaoli County as well as Nantou County.

Cheng Liangsheng, head of the performance troupe and director of the Taiwan Work Office of Hubei Province, stated that dragon performance is a way to express good wishes and pray for prosperity and longevity.

Cheng noted that this trip highlighted the shared heritage of traditional Chinese culture across the Taiwan Strait.

Gaolong, a Wuhan-exclusive dragon dance featuring breathtaking vertical movements, has a history of over 1,300 years. The Miaoli Bombing Dragon is a traditional Hakka cultural activity during the Lantern Festival.
