Defending champions the Guangdong Hongyuan handed the Beijing Ducks their second home defeat of this season with a 112-99 win in the 20th round of Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league Wednesday in Beijing.

The Beijing Ducks, who started the 2011-2012 season with 13 straight victories, a club record, have lost five in past six matches.

The game was close at the beginning before Guangdong took an early lead in the second quarter, when Beijing committed 5 fouls in 4 minutes. By the end of the second quarter, Guangdong led by 13 points with the score of 58-45.

However, rookie Zhu Yanxi stepped up for his team with three three-pointers and Randolph Morris had four huge blocks in the third quarter before Fang Shuo's baseline jumper tied the game at 74-74.

The last quarter was dominated by Guangdong, who outscored Beijing Ducks 36-23 in the period.

It was in defence where Guangdong made the difference. Guangdong grabbed 49 rebounds against Beijing's 32.

Free throw was another problem for the Ducks, who hit only 29 out of 43 free throws in the game.

The Beijing Ducks have lost 17 consecutive home games against Guangdong Hongyua.
