Peng Guohua, man on the stretcher, inspired the new movie.
A film depicting the true story of the survival of a man buried in a mineshaft in the devastating Wenchuan earthquake will be shot in Anxian county, Sichuan province. It is based on the experience of Peng Guohua, a resident of the county's Jushui town, the county's publicity chief Zhao Kui says.
Peng, who was buried in a mine 30 meters beneath the earth, survived by drinking urine and rainwater and eating toilet paper. He was rescued 172 hours later, thanks to the unremitting efforts of his wife, relatives and soldiers.
Shooting may start next February, and the film may premiere on July 1, producer Sun Yunfeng says.
