At least one person was killed and 11 more injured after a van careened into a crowded bus stop Tuesday morning in suburban Beijing, authorities and witnesses said.
The van, with a Beijing license, ran into a bus stop near the intersection of the Tuanhe Road and Jinxing Road in southern Beijing's Daxing District at 8:20 a.m. when a large number of people were waiting for buses, witnesses said.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the accident has left one person dead and 11 more injured, among whom three suffered severe injuries, said an official with the city's traffic bureau.
It is yet unknown why the the van was driven into the crowd and further investigation is under way.
