Beijing rallies to pip Xinjiang 101-100

Beijing Ducks overcame a 16-point deficit to clinch a 101-100 win on the road over Xinjiang Guanghui on Wednesday in the 23rd round of the Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA).

Stephon Marbury collected 25 points and 8 assists for Ducks, who ended its four-game losing streak. Randolph Morris added 23 points and 5 rebounds. Xu Guochong led Xinjiang with 25 points, followed by Shirelijan's 22 and Tim Pickett's 20.

Hosts Xinjiang got a hot hand from downtown in the first quarter with supershooter Xu Guoshong's 4-of-6 three pointer to surge a 19-4 run before Beijing cut the double-digit deficit to 8 points on 43-51 at the break.

Zhai Xiaochuan sank a crucial 3-pointer in the fourth quarter as Beijing usurped the lead for the first time on 97-96 with 1 minute 40 seconds remaining.

From then on, Beijing exchanged points with Xinjiang until Morris put the Ducks ahead to stay with two free throws 101-100 only 16.2 seconds to go. Xinjiang center Bateer missed the last attempt at a three-pointer in the last second.

Although J.R. Smith had a game-high 34 points with 8 rebounds and as many assists, the NBA star didn't lift Zhejiang Chouzhou to a win as it was upset by Bayi Fubang 105-101.

Chinese basketball big name Wang Zhizhi scored 27 points, leading five Bayi players who scored double-digit. Promising Bayi center Xu Zhonghao, 21, contributed 24 points and 11 rebounds, followed by 18 points from Wanglei, 16 from Zhangbo and 10 from Derrer.

In Wednesday's other games, Jiangsu Dragons edged Shanxi Zhongyu 102-100, Dongguan Marco Polo beat Qingdao Doublestars 103-93, Tianjin Ronggang overcame Fujian SBS 114-111, Guangdong Hongyuan overwhelmed Shandong Gold 102-92, Jilin Northeast Tigers downed Shanghai Sharks 95-82, Liaoning Hengye smashed Foshan Long Lions 116-101.
