Chinese holiday goers can enjoy live shows of ancient Chinese symphonies by a museum in central China's Henan province during the ongoing Spring Festival.

Li Hong, deputy rector of Henan Museum, told Xinhua on Tuesday that the museum will give the performance daily, from Wednesday to Saturday.

"We will not only reproduce ancient musical performances, but also the spirit, emotion, living style and etiquette of ancient people," Li said.

He said the museum has reproduced more than 100 varieties of ancient musical instruments, the oldest of which date back more than 8,700 years. The instruments are made of bones, pottery and stone.

Huo Kun, deputy head of the museum's Chinese Ancient Musical Troupe, said the project has revived nearly 100 ancient musical compositions.

"The music was reproduced based on research of old musical books, historical records and ancient poems," said Huo.

He said that the troupe has also placed great importance on performers' costumes and playing styles, which are important to bring out the artistic conception of the music.

The museum plans to take the show on tour to allow more Chinese audiences to enjoy the ancient art, he added.
