China's meteorological authority said Thursday that the country's northern regions will continue to have sunny weather for the coming 24 hours, while the south will have more rain and snow.

Temperatures in the country's north are expected to rebound gradually, the National Meteorological Center said in a statement on its website.

From 8:00 a.m. January 26 to 8:00 a.m. January 27, some parts of Xinjiang, Tibet, Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang would have rain and snow, while the western part of Guizhou would suffer freezing rains.

Meanwhile, rain and snow will persist in most parts of the southern regions over the next three days, according to the statement.

Thursday is the fifth day of the week-long Spring Festival holiday. Meteorologists suggested people who were returning to work to prepare for the flurry and moderate snow.
