The family of an artist sued Beijing International Hotel in Dongcheng district court Wednesday, after the hotel displayed his artworks without permission in a male toilet, the Legal Mirror reported.
The children of the late Sun Tianmu, a famous landscape artist, said they found 12 of his works in the hotel toilet in June, which humiliated their father's art. They demanded 1.1 million yuan (US$174,460) compensation.
The hotel said they bought the paintings legally. No verdict was handed down yesterday.
