Some signs remind rural residents to "have fewer children (to save money) and raise more pigs (to make a fortune)."
(Ecns.cn)— The Hainan Provincial Family Planning Bureau has decided to launch a facelift of its promotion of the country's one-child policy this year, according to Xinhua News Agency.
New slogans will seem more catchy and friendly, the bureau announced.
This year, harsh slogans posted or painted in various regions of the province, including urban communities, villages and highways, will be slowly and thoroughly updated, said Huang Shuxu, department head of the bureau's publicity section.
Intimidating slogans to promote the policy can be seen all over the vast countryside of China, and the island province of Hainan has been no exception.
Some signs remind rural residents to "have fewer children (to save money) and raise more pigs (to make a fortune)" and warn of "determined and severe punishment."
