Thirty-five new trains will be added to Shanghai's Line 3 and Line 4 subways, according to the city's development and reform bureau.
The bureau said that the city's subway operator agreed to fund the purchase for the two lines, which currently serves an increasing volume of passengers with 38 trains each.
But commuters can expect to wait two years before the trains arrive and are put into use, said the bureau.
