Global online music competition kicks off in Beijing

"Rock the Web! Recording Academy," the first global online music competition, kicked off in Beijing in mid February 2012.

The music competition in China is aimed to enhance the overall level of China's pop music, launch a platform for international musical culture exchange as well as promote the global influence of Chinese culture.

"Rock the Web!" is a global music screening through the platform of the Internet and it is a new try for China in international cultural exchange.

The competition will last five months and provide a stage for global music talents. The winners are selected by viewers' SMS and online votes, as well as those of a panel of renowned international judges.

Competition organizers will launch promotional campaigns for the event on campuses across China starting in March.
