British consulate’s stone

2012-02-24 09:01 Global Times     Web Editor: Xu Rui comment

An old stone block labeled 'BCLOT10191' discovered earlier this week by Hongkou district residents was used to mark border concessions in Shanghai during the 1920s, experts confirmed Thursday.

The 'BCLOT' stood for 'British Consulate Lot,' they said.

Some 10 other similar blocks have previously been found, according to experts from Shanghai History Museum.
