The city's ladies are being treated to discounted entry fees at major tourist sites and free medical consultations at local hospitals on Thursday, when the city marks International Women's Day.
Among the city's popular attractions, Happy Valley amusement park will offer female visitors half-price entry on Thursday, when it plans to hold another 'high heel race' for ladies, after 38 women sprinted 100 meters in their heels at the park over the weekend.
Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital, meanwhile, is among the city's hospitals providing free consultation to the first 40 women to visit on Thursday. Doors open at 8 am.
Ladies are also invited to attend a series of free lectures that will be given at the hospital on Women's Day. Medical professionals plan to give talks on health issues pertaining to women, which will include discussions about breast cancer and birth control.
And, with a splash of color to mark the occasion Thursday night, the iconic Oriental Pearl TV Tower will turn its lights pink in a show of respect for the city's women.
