Amateur submarine maker gets three orders

(Ecns.cn)—An unemployed man surnamed Zhang from Wuhan, capital city of central China's Hubei Province, has already successfully hand manufactured and sold a small submarine, and is now preparing to trial the second, the local Evening News reported on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old used to work for a textile machinery plant, and its abandoned factory became his workshop for submarine production.

He told the media that right after his first sale, calls of inquiry came in, mostly from fishermen in coastal provinces like Shandong, Zhejiang and Liaoning. They hope to deploy the submersibles for bottom-trawling.

Zhang is set to finish the construction of two more of the underwater vessels, including one to be delivered next month.
