China is ready to give fresh impetus to the all-round and sound development of its relations with Albania through increased party-to-party exchanges, a senior visiting Chinese official said in Tirana Saturday.

Liu Qi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, made the remarks in a meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

China, Liu said, appreciates Albania's adherence to the one-China policy and is ready to work with Albania to deepen practical cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

Citing the traditional friendship between China and Albania, Liu said party-to-party communications will help bring new dynamics to the development of the overall bilateral relations.

Berisha, also chairman of the Albanian Democratic Party, praised the achievements China has made in its reform and opening-up and spoke highly of China's important role in international affairs.

He said his party is willing to strengthen exchanges with the CPC so as to push forward bilateral cooperation in politics, economy, culture, education and other areas.

Heading a CPC delegation, Liu arrived in Albania on Saturday for a three-day visit. The delegation will also visit Angola and Kenya.
