First ‘Wi-Fi’ taxi debuts in central China

(Ecns.cn)--A taxi driver in Zhengzhou, capital city of Henan Province, has started providing free Wi-Fi service to passengers, the first such move in the country, according to a local newspaper.

The taxi driver named Yao Leining reportedly uses his own cell phone as a wireless router, turning the car into a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The news caught immediate attention and acclaim on Sina Weibo, the Chinese version of Twitter. However, it's unlikely to bring more business to Yao. Taxis are highly mobile in the city and it's difficult for passengers to note Yao and his cab.
