(Ecns.cn)—The government is set to initiate an interdepartmental network among local tax bureaus, as one of the key steps bringing the country closer to the launch of the household income tax plan, China Business reported last week.
The nationwide taxation network will collect the income information of all taxpayers and integrate the household earnings data of family members living in different regions.
Liu Shanxi, deputy director of the Institute of Fiscal Science at the Ministry of Finance, confirmed the news, adding that tax authorities have been working on the preparation since 2009.
Despite the immature conditions, experts believe there are certain cities qualified for an earlier pilot plan, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Suzhou, where taxation systems already cover most of the working population.
