Human flesh search wounds woman

2012-03-26 17:32 Global Times     Web Editor: Xu Rui comment

A Beijing woman has been harassed by angry telephone threats after a self-executed online manhunt targeted the wrong person, the Beijing Evening News reported yesterday.

The Web campaign, referred to as a "human flesh search," was started by Guangdong Hongyuan Basketball Club boss Liu Hongjiang, to revenge the photoshopping of a picture of Hongyuan's center Su Wei, which displayed Su as a dead man.

Liu offered a 5,000 yuan ($793) reward for a name.

Angry Hongyuan fans narrowed their search down to a few people, including this Beijinger, surnamed Fan, who barely watches basketball. "They found the wrong woman!" she said.

Fan had to deal with so many foul-talking callers on Saturday that her phone battery died within a short time. Most of the calls were from Guangdong Province.
