Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti arrived in Beijing Friday afternoon, starting an official visit to China.
Monti paid the visit at the invitation of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, and they will hold talks.
In a recent interview with Chinese media, Monti said that his visit will help promote the development of bilateral ties and expand exchanges and cooperation in various areas.
After Beijing tour, Monti will attend Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2012 in the southern Chinese province of Hainan.
