(Ecns.cn) -- Local police authorities denied the abusive interrogations that reportedly used in the widely-watched Taizinai case in a news briefing Saturday in Zhuzhou, an industrial city in central China's Hunan Province, according to Changsha Daily.

Li Tuchun, founder of the bankrupt dairy company Taizinai Group in Hunan Province, was detained for 15 months for illegal fundraising before regaining his freedom late in February.

One year ago, the public security bureau in Zhuzhou of Hunan announced that Taizinai and Li had been illegally taking deposits and misappropriating funds, and that altogether four people had been arrested, according to a report from Global Times.

Rumors have spread recently that accuse local police of resorting to abusive interrogation procedures with the suspects that led to two deaths, three cases of paralysis, and one miscarriage.

In their defense, the public security bureau argued that all interrogations were conducted strictly in accordance with related rules and laws. Neither the prime suspect Li, nor his alleged accomplices, were abused in any manner during the process, they insist. They also pointed out that each interrogation was taped, and will confirm their version of events.

According to the news briefing, Li's uncle, who was not even a suspect in the case, committed suicide. Li's little sister has long suffered facial paralysis and is not a so called victim of illegal interrogation, either. As to the alleged miscarriage, the police said, this may possibly be related to a file clerk in the company, who claimed she had had an abortion a while before the investigation was conducted.
