The Jinjiang District Taichi Association, a grassroots organization to promote exercise in Sichuan province's capital Chengdu, was founded last month.
Taichi boxing (shadow boxing) is one of the most popular traditional sports in China and enjoys mass involvement in Chengdu.
To mark the founding of the association, a Taichi boxing contest organized by the Jinjiang district government was staged at the Chengdu Wanda Plaza on March 20. It drew more than 500 practitioners.
