Five elderly men set out for southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region from Rizhao, a port city of eastern China's Shandong Province, by bike to promote eco-tourism and national fitness on April 8, 2012, according to Xinhua.

The five members of Rizhao Winter Swimming Association aimed their destination at the foot of Mount Qomolangma, also known as Mount Everest in the West, past more than 20 provinces.

The average age of the cycling team exceeds 55 with the oldest named Qu Chaofen aged 68.

The Winter Swimming Association held a farewell ceremony for the five cycling heroes and a total of 50 winter swimming lovers performed for them.

More than 50 swimming lovers would cycle to Lanshan, a border region between Shandong Province and eastern China's Jiangsu Province.

The five cyclists will bring the seawater of Rizhao to the holy Potala Palace of Lhasa, capital of Tibet.
