A large-scale Tibet-themed musical play will be staged at China's most prominent arts center in Beijing in late May.

The arrival of the multi-media musical, titled "Spring in Tibet" at the country's National Center for the Performing Arts is a practice of the "going out strategy of Tibetan culture", aiming to spread Tibetan culture and expand its influence through building cultural brands.

The performance, integrated with both traditional and hi-tech facilities, will let audiences experience Tibetan music and culture different from previous ones with better visual quality, according to An Guimin, director of arts department of Tibet Culture Bureau.

The musical is also highlighted by its excellent cast from China Central Chinese Orchestra and Tibet Philharmonic Orchestra, leading orchestras of China and Tibet respectively.

"It is the first time for Tibet regional orchestra to perform together with state-level orchestra", said An Guimin.

At present, Tibet Philharmonic Orchestra has begun its rehearsal after musical creation, chosen musical instruments and orchestration.

The original music has been recomposed by state-level Tibetan composer Tashi Tsewang and Penlo. Also, modern multi-media technologies such as LED are used in the performance.

Tibet will send a team of 65 actors, Tibetan singers including Dekyi Metog, Tenzin, Kelsang Chodron and Nyima Tsering, and famous conductor Penba for the musical play.

"The traditional Tibetan musical play will be performed in a new outlook a month later", said An Guimin.

"We have been striving to make excellent Tibetan musical programs be performed on national-level stages. We may also make relevant cultural products after the performance to promote the influence of Tibetan culture", said An Guimin.

The musical play will be launched on May 28 and 29.
