Police in Shandong Province said Monday that they have apprehended a man who allegedly killed five people, including his daughter, ex-wife and three former in-laws, in late January.
Mu Xiaoqiang, 40, who held a grudge over his ex-wife who divorced him, allegedly showed up at his former father-in-law's home with a hacking knife and some gasoline and killed the five people inside on January 28, said an official with the police bureau in the city of Heze, where the murders occurred.
Among the victims were Mu's daughter, his ex-wife and his ex-wife's parents and younger brother.
After the killing, Mu allegedly set the home on fire, the official said.
Mu was apprehended Saturday afternoon in Hunan Province, more than a 15-hour train ride from the scene of the crime in Heze's Dingtao County.
An investigation is underway.
